      THE BEST MOCK TEACHING

  Finally, 3 weeks of Mock teaching have already came to an end... First of all, I would like to congratulate each and everyone for the effort that all of you have done although it was a last minute preparation for all of us due to a lot of assignments.. But Good Job guys and we have nailed it...



      I believe it was more than just a mental fear that made us nervous initially. But seriously the 30 minutes that was given just flew very fast then i expected..

To be frank, till this moment of time I couldn't choose one person to be the best because i felt that all of did our best and we really learned a lot through this mock teaching...


Since I have no choice, I think the best Mock teaching from my perception goes to..........

             JEREMY

 OK!!! LET ME EXPLAIN THE REASONS WHY I CHOOSE JEREMY'S MOCK TEACHING IS THE BEST..


a) Teacher role in managing the students...

* Jeremy managed all the students well as he actually made all of to concentrate on his story and it was really exciting to know what s the next step of the story..

*He managed his time quite well where he was actually correcting all the mistakes and gave us time to re do back and submit it with right answer.


b) Managing the lesson

*He really managed the lesson well as he repeated the story and the formula together which I believe was a good way for making the students remember..

*The flow of his teaching was also arranged very well


c) The teaching method

* He managed it during the time given and I believe it is not much to be learned rather not to less and it was perfect in flow of teaching..

* I liked Jeremy's intonation of voice when he read out the questions where he did it with a dialog concept and really captured all our mind since he choose all the hot topics which is going on lately in the era.


d)The lesson-content

*The content of the lesson was sufficient enough for a secondary student..

*The way he made the students remember the formula was awesome where till now I remember the formula that he thought.. It really captured the mind.


e) The fun that we had in the class

* I would say the fun was there throughout the lesson especially during the interaction that we had as a student and teacher.. He was really a friendly teacher indeed and I believe that every student will like a teacher like this..

*I also liked his group work where he gave us a manila card and small pieces of papers written with the formula to be pasted with the glue-tac according to the questions answer and run forward to check whether it is right or wrong. By this he made the class to be actively participate and not getting boring..


I THINK THAT IS ALL FROM ME..

ALL OF US HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB AND I AM SURE WE WILL DO OUR BEST FOR THE UP COMING MOCK TEACHINGS..



Since Mock teaching have came to an end and that marks the last day of pedagogy class..



I really learned that to be a teacher is not an easy responsibility. Yes, I was aware from the beginning to be a teacher is not an easy job, because parents and society have so much hopes on teachers to mold their children to be a morally and intellectually good. During all this past weeks, I was given a good exposure by Dr. Ng to get myself started with lesson plans and preparing notes and activities so that I would be emotionally prepared of what I would be facing in the future with the secondary students in school. Thank you so much Dr. Ng for all the guidance in helping and encouraging me to get exposed to lesson plans though it was a little challenging but I managed to do it. 

Thank You once again for introducing me to so many new methods of teaching and learning.I learned a lot from your class and I definitely would use it when I get into the world of teaching.

7th Week Of Reflection.. (MY MOCK TEACHING)

Hi there welcome back to My blog after a long gap...


Finally, I have done my mock teaching and that is really one big relieve to me.. And trust me I was really afraid for my mock teaching since it was my first time..

My mock teaching was on the 11th of April 2017

In this post, I am going to reflect few matters on :

1) How the lesson went in general
2) What I would do differently
3) What went wrong
4) What I liked about the lesson
5) If the activities and class dynamics reflected my teaching principles
6) What i learned in the process


 First of all, had to thank God for everything, even though the preparation for my mock teaching was so last minute.... but  I believe I have  done my best since its my first time..First of all I would like to thank Dr Ng for the feedback  that she has given whether it is good or bad....


1) How the lesson went in general

*To me I felt that I have done my best and I did not have any problem during my mock teaching.. The only problem I had when I was at the front teaching is, I was having the fear..

*Overall, The whole mock teaching went well as per planned...I completed all that I wanted the students to learn..




2) What I would do differently

* I would say , I had to change the way of teaching them to be more entertaining because I felt that some of them felt bored by circling the prepositions in the notes.

* I would change the My power point slides a little bit more enjoyable... Maybe by adding some pictures and make it more fun..

*I also would like to change the organization of the flow of teaching... To put the game at the end of the notes because the last 2 slides of notes, the students felt bored.. I should have prepare another song or game that would keep them stay concentrated during the whole class.



3) What went wrong.

* There was question one that a student gave during 3rd slide of explaining them.. To be frank, I was not prepared for the question so I went out blur thinking for the answer and that actually took time.. I should have predicted all the questions from the students.

*My time management..This is because I dragged too much concerning on the understanding level and to take note every prepositions in the sentences, and I shouldn't have took time to answer all the questions and should have ask them to wait till the end of the lesson..


4) What I liked about the lesson

* Obviously everything.. I truly liked the way, I present myself and I was also excited since it is my first mock teaching.. I could already have the imagination of becoming an educator..

* Besides, I would like to sincerely thank each and everyone who attended the class during my mock teaching and supported me all throughout the 30 minutes.... You guys really gave me good cooperation.. Thank You once again.

* I also liked the game part where it was tricking my students and they had to think.. (SIMON SAYS)





5) If the activities and class dynamics reflected my teaching principles.

* The class went on well and I made all the students to be participating during the whole class time and it was actually how supposed to be done because interaction between a teacher and student is very important..

6) What I have Learned in the process

*Firstly, I have learned on how to manage my time and to speed up certain things when it is a one period lesson.

*I also learned on how to do proper slides .. Specially all the animations that I have used.. Trust me.. It really took a lot of time... And not forgetting on how to do my lesson plan since It is also my first time arranging the whole lesson all by myself.

6th Week Of Reflection... PREPARATION THAT IS DONE!!!

 PREPARATION FOR MOCK TEACHING....

    Hi Good Day everyone, This week we missed our class due to some reasons but what was fun is we had class through online and it was very interesting if u ask me cause we were actually typing all our ideas in a chit chat box and it was actually fun as that is what technology brings us now...

   What we actually discuss in the chit -chat is about classroom management.. My friends and I was ready at 9:00 am excitedly waiting to attend online class as I am experiencing it the first time..  Dr. Ng asked questions and waited for our replies to give comment.. Basically It was about what is the difference about a class teacher and the subject teacher and what roles does they play respectively??? A class teacher is a person who is responsible in the class organizing and choose the leader, manage the classroom boards and meeting the parents.. What the subject teachers do is concentrate on what are they teaching and be sure that students can cope up with the subjects...

    THE QUESTION FOR THIS WEEK IS 

 PREPARATION FOR MY MOCK TEACHING

I cannot believe that time passes so fast and the mock teaching starts next week... 

       Mock teaching is a opportunity for us that we should not take it for granted as it is the time for us to present ourselves as a teacher. .  I believe that I have many things to get done before my turn to present as a teacher in front of my lecturer and friends. It's nervous a side and happy a side. I am full of excitement on how I am going to bring up myself in front of everyone.  I  am afraid of making mistakes and getting myself down as I am afraid of presenting and teaching... I hope I can get rid of everything and be prepared for myself before the day comes..  Since it is my first time, therefore i am obviously nervous about it... Anyway I believe practice makes perfect !!!!!! so I will take this as my practice.

       
         Before my turn comes, the things that I prepared was planning my lesson. First, by choosing the best topic to present on that day. We are supposed to do lesson plan on three topics and choose
the best one at the end. I am choosing ENGLISH AS MY MAJORING ... So I have choose grammar to be my elements of teaching.. As what Dr. Ng has taught and guide us all this while ,  I  managed to successfully complete two lesson plan and  complete worksheets for  one topic that i have chosen ..... I hope I cannot complete more this weekend and have more time to prepare myself on time management..

             The challenging part was to  design my very own  lesson plan according to the syllabus  and handout of course the handouts.. This is because, I need to design it very well and accordingly based on student's ability and their interest on the subject. As a teacher, I should also understand the students needs and how to convey them the best for the lesson. So, designing my handouts was very tough. I  believe I have designed it neatly in order to make the students understand and not forgetting the group work that students need to complete is the major part that shows they have understand.. If they have done it, then I think there is a achievement for me..


       Google and You tube is actually helping me in resolving most problems that I face because there is a lot of examples to be taken note and to be creative in teaching... Being a teacher is quite challenging. My thought when I was in primary and secondary school is being a teacher is the simple occupation ever and this thought stops when I started to learn pedagogy. It is not easy as we think because the trust has been given to us and we are the one who is responsible for the emergence of a leader in the future.... Students is actually depending on us to make sure that they score well in their examination and every teacher is A ROLE MODEL for students...

          I think That is all from me... The only think In my mind is to complete rest of the thibgs that I should prepare and the materials that I am going to choose.. I hope I can bring out all that I have learned so far in my mock teaching...

5TH REFLECTION!!!! STARTING THE STRESSFUL WEEK.

 MY MIND IS FULL OF ASSIGNMENTS....

OK!!!here comes week 5 and exam is already near.. OMG!! time passes so fast... And not forgetting MOCK MEETING IN ANOTHER 2 WEEKS...

  PEDAGOGY class this week started with something very wonderful which is about Music.. In this modern era I believe that, Every students or even anyone here will love music.. So Dr.Ng thought us on how to attract the students with music...Music really help us to be calm and be relaxed all along the way ,But take note.. It is not the music that is played in cinema It is classical music..hahahaha

        Next, we learned about the differences between Learning outcome and Learning objective....
Ok!!! It is not a joke and seriously we took about 35 min for us to answer this question??? wooohhhh.. Surprising right...

  Ok!! Before we catch on the topic, I would like to share some knowledge on lesson plans. Lesson plan is known as every teacher's "best friend" haha I hope. Well, in the previous class, we were exposed in creating our very own lesson plan based on the major we are going to take up in the future. To be frank,  the complexity of the lesson plan itself is turning me into an angry bird. haha Why? Because it's not easy at all to design for secondary going children. Well, that's exactly why I am in Pedagogy in Education class right? hehe to learn better and use whatever I am exposed to in the future. To talk about the most important part of a lesson plan. Every part in a lesson plan should be given great emphasis but in my opinion the most important part would be on how we organize the time and activities in order to produce a very fruitful teaching and learning lesson. Time management and how a teacher organizes each activities should be done in great precision. This takes us to the stages in a lesson plan which compromises of elements like stage/duration, content/skills, teacher/student activity and lastly rationale behind each activities and audio and visual aid(AVA). Good content and approach in teaching and learning would ensure the good flow of knowledge in class because teachers are aware of what they going to teach their fellow students and when they know  they would be able to find the best method and skill to ensure their students actually would be able to catch up. Good content is proven to be an important element of a lesson plan.

4 REASONS WHY I FEEL THIS SLIDES IS GOOD BECAUSE

i)  VISUALIZATION AIDS

A good PowerPoint presentation should always have a focus on what it intends to accomplish and it should always contain a take home message.  We as Teachers can reinforce this take home message with pictures, charts, symbols and other images. I believe  sometimes it’s better to have more pictures than text in a PowerPoint presentation. Images work to reinforce a main point or message. Teachers typically will just share this content with their class, so they can pull images straight from the Internet. Explaining through images will help students to understand better and teachers will be able to describe the images and make the students visualize themselves,

ii) INFORMATION STATED

Although, there is less wordings in the slides but The words are sufficient enough to relate to the topic..This is because the images of the environment can actually make the students to think about the society and the environment.

iii) BACKGROUND

The colour of the background exactly suits with the pictures on it.  As we all know that environment is all about having more plantation and green leafs so the background have merged well with the topic and may help the students to imagine how it really looks like. And all the images are clear to be seen.

iv) IT HAS A BRIEF EXPLANATION ON THE EFFECTS AND CAUSE

This actually helps the teachers to cover the whole topic without missing anything and will be able to cover the syllabus.

4TH REFLECTION

                         4TH CLASS REFLECTION!

  Hi there! Yeeeaaa,. It's me again... Are you getting Bored reading my Blog every week.. I am sorry if i am giving you all A bored blog... I am still new to this.. I hope I can improve a soon as possible..

     This time Dr. Ng Thought us about LESSON PLANS.... I believe lesson plans are the most important tool for a teacher..  And again I would say teaching is not a easy job. I just could not wait of becoming a teacher but after all this lessons, I feel I have not learn many more things.. TEACHING IS NOT EASY DOOH...!!!!!

  Dr.Ng showed us few examples on lesson plan and she also explained us the importance of a lesson plan..At first, I was really blur in the class because it is very new to me and I did not expect it to be so hard.. 

 
      This week we were assigned to create our very own lesson plan! It was to be done according to our respective individual majors.Lesson planning is important because it helps teachers ensure that the day-to-day activities that go on in their classrooms are providing students with an adequate level of long-term progress toward the goals outlined in their scope and sequence, as well as their individual education plans when necessary ..Equipped with the basics of how it should look like, we were then faced with the challenging part  where we were also asked to put in the content. After quickly skimming through a couple of samples that Dr. Ng had posted, I am here to try my best.

  All this is the most important cover of a lesson plan.. without having this as the front page, I belive it is not a complete lesson plan..Why Do I say that all this criteria is important because every teacher should prepare a lesson plan before they go in the class and when it comes to the learning objectives and outcomes, Every teacher should be able to know the capabilities of the student..

  In my personal opinion, I believe that the number of student is a little bit less important as it does not not effect the teaching process as we can briefly predict how many students are there in the class.

EXPLANATION:

i)BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE : This element is a important one in a lesson plan because the educators should know about the basic knowledge that the student have about the specific topic that they are going to learn.

ii)FOCUS : This is to focus on the topic that we are going to teach.

iii)LEARNING OUTCOMES : By the end of the lesson we should be able to see the outcomes from the students.This is to make sure that the objectives are being achieved.

iv)LEARNING OBJECTIVES : Giving 3 objectives is important because we should plan ourselves to make the students understand and achieve at least 2 of it.

v)TEACHING AIDS : Teaching aids i also another important element in the lesson plan. This is because teacher should be able to know what are the materials that they are going to use for the whole period and is there any materials that the student should bring for the lesson ..

vi)RESOURCES/REFERENCE : The references that the educators are going to use should be clearly stated, so that the teacher can also plans themselves to use up the materials..

3RD REFLECTION

                                3RD REFLECTION!!

Hi there !!!! Welcome back to My blog..I am back again to talk about education and educators.. Naaahhh .. To me this week is a relaxing week because most of my class was cancelled due to certain reasons. This week My pedagogy class was also postponed to Wednesday.. So yea.. I was sleeping more.. hahahahaha.. Sleeping actually reduces stress... "Perception Only"

   

I found this and I believe that every human being should have more rest time in order to keep themselves healthy..

 We started our pedagogy class late and we were actually making some funs and jokes as students. That was the time that I realized what friends are for.. We were having some fun talking,chit chats and yea of course selfies.. I am really thankful for having such friends like them..

US AGAIN!!!

 Ok!! Without further delay lets talk about what we learned this week.. It is about the bumps to student-centered approach which Dr. Ng asked us to read before the class. In my point of view student centered approach in classroom could actually be a really good method of teaching and learning. For an example, even in Dr.Ng's class she always gives the opportunity to speak out more during class.. She always have open discussion and used to give us the freedom to tell our ideas and opinion during the class. 

The article basically talks about the 8 stages students will experience for adapting student-centered education and 11 problems from educators and some  are also included with the solution.

THIS WEEK TASK IS ABOUT SELECTING 4 PROBLEMS THAT EDUCATORS FACE AND 2 METHODS FOR EACH OF THE PROBLEMS :

PROBLEM 1 : Never get through the syllabus within the                           time given.

* Try to control the duration of activities of learning ,like 5 to 10 minutes, and continue to follow up with the syllabus.

* But there no need to shorten the syllabus.Instead of saying and explaining every word from the book ,teachers could also teach through writing or visualizing statement so that students will be able to understand them easily.

* Try to occupy the time given and manage it by also giving the students some work before the class so that they are prepared about the activity and that will also save time.

 PROBLEM 2 : If I don’t lecture I’ll lose control of the                                 class

* Try to have 3 to 5 minutes break for students to cool down and have chit chat with their friends in class .So the students will not make noise when the class is going on.From that ,the students will have focus in class and can control them easily if got any arguing about what you’re trying to get them learn.

* If  students make noise in group discussion, I believe this is not a big problem because from there a teacher will be able to see the progress of learning and character level.Then,you can control them by telling them in proper way,so they also will listen and can go on the class as usual.

* Don’t make the class so boring by lecturing all the way but also to give them small exercises and questions to help them brainstorm on what they have learn.. By this, the students are being forced indirectly to concentrate while the discussion or the lecturing since it is a individual job.

PROBLEM 3 : Some students will "hitchhike," getting       credit for work in which they did not actively participation during group projects

* The lecture need to get to know about students characters well,so when the group work is assigned,they passed up teachers need  to ask each n everyone in the group  several question similar with the assignment that is given to them,if there don’t know to answer means 

* Before giving the assignment ,tell the students that marks will also be given for the team work for assignment ,if one member never do anything ,the person will get zero for  the assignment if the teacher gets to find it out. (warn them in advance)

* Another way is ,tell everyone that marks will given with all your team work ,if a person did not work as team but still you all cover him/her marks for all group member will be zero.

PROBLEM 4 : Unable to understand the material                                    independently 

* Before giving them 100 pages to reading material ,try to give them short reading materials for them ,so they can learn slowly to read rather giving them straight a longer reading material for them be cracking their head and the students actually gets annoyed to read the materials

* Another way is get to know the students well ... By this we will know which students good in reading  and poor in reading ,so try to coach up the poor in reading  by giving them daily reading exercise to in prove with their reading. Give more importance to the students and let the other students to be independent.

* Give them more exercises on searching then providing them long materials to be read.. By this students will have to take the initiative to go through websites and find more information.

Hi, My Name Is Priscilla Alex.I am from Klang. I will be 21 years old this year. I have completed my diploma in management and currently pursuing my education In Unitar International University to be a teacher in the near future. I am also aiming to continue my studies till ph.D.

I am a Inter-mediate student so I keep myself motivating that I will be expertise in it someday. I am not a perfectionist but would try my good efforts if given a task to perform with details and little delayed. That is my strength and weakness as well. 

My Goals In life is to success without holding on to what I have.

I like to help and give people good advice to help them with their life. I would also love to travel around the world hahahaha.... Basically with my own group of friends...

             My second goal is to keep God first always. I learned that you can do nothing without him. No matter how hard you may try, or keep him out, you can't. God is a big part of life and I take him with me wherever I go.  I believe That's what everyone should do.

 My Philosophy of teaching is to educate people about how important education is in the current environment. I believe that education is a way long journey that helps every individual to build a successful student or a person. Every educators should always understand the students better so that they achieve well. A teacher's success is always depends on how well the results from the students is.

I am a real introvert and don't share my sorrows but when I am happy I share my happiness with my best friend and that's my mom. She is always there for me. My hobby is reading story books and internet surfing.

MY 1ST CLASS REFLECTION!!!!

 

Hey There Everyone,I'm back here to talk about my Pedagogy subject....

         EEEERRRRMMM... To be frank.. It Is a hard subject to understand.. It is complicated..

 The first class photo and the happy faces of us. It is really fun being with all of them..

   YEA..! WE ARE ONE!!!

 Let's stay united together till the end and hope that all of us will get good grades for pedagogy..hahahahahaha...

  Ok!!!! To be precise of what I have learned this week is all about the teaching skills,where we really understood about what is pedagogy. I had much more clear image of what basically pedagogy is and what is teaching meant to be.. I also learned the ways that we should use to really understand who are our  students..

      Besides, Our main aim of learning this 3 types of theories which is cognitive,humanistic and behavioral school of thought is to interact with the students in a innovative way and adapt to the situation at the right time.. Hahahahahahaha... The best part is when lecturer asked many question which made me squeeze my brain to the higher level and I believe the question really helped me to wash up and got active throughout the class.. I believe that all of us in the class were concentrating as we were all keen own learning it as a future educator.

         After all the discussion, I have learned on how to differentiate the 3 Theories...  Cognitive school of thought basically focuses on how the students take in their knowledge. This school of thought also depends on how a teacher changes a students perception and their teaching method. Humanistic school of thought focuses on the social and emotional learning. This shows that every educator should always be patient enough with the students and not to hurt them with any words or actions.We should also be polite to them and to emotionally scare them. The third school of thought is behavioral school of thought which tells us on how they behave in the environment. This thought is basically about the moral values that a educator should possess when the students are being thought.


    As a conclusion, As a educator I believe that we have to use all 3 theories according to the situation and the students character and learning skills...Hurmmmmmmmmm.. I think that's all from me..!!!!!

As u all know Im taking currently pursuing my Bachelor Of Education and for this semester I am taking a pedagogy in education which is really an important subject in my carrier life... So yea... Please be patient enough and I hope everyone can tolerate with... I know I am repeating all this because I have already mentioned this before hand..Without Further delay, I would like to talk about what we have learned in our 2nd pedagogy class.

The most Important thing that we learned in our class last week is about the

  10 things students want educators to know..

This is the image that our lecturer explained us in detail for us to understand what a educator should do and what they should not do.

Having said all this 10 Things is actually a very challenging thing for the future educators. Yea it is easier to be read or even looking at it but once it comes to applying, I believe it is a very hard task to be done.This class also gave us a chance to learn a thing or two about patience. As future educators, we have to brace ourselves for a whole lot of stressful moments and frustrating problems. We can't decide what happens to us, but we can decide how we react to it. I think patience is one of the most important assets a teacher should have. Good things come to those who wait. We should also always learn to make the best out of the worst situations. Even all the complaining and grunting, I found that I actually got a chance to learn more about educating the future generations with my classmates and of course my lecturer . 

Besides , another major lesson that I have learned during last week class is that a normal human being no matter what carrier are we in we usually have frustrations due to work load and stress.Students always prefer a teacher who is friendly no matter what situation are they in. This is because the students will feel free to share they feelings and emotions without  fear.

As usual, Our lecturer is a person who ask us question in order for us to understand better and she also give us time for us to speak out...

At the end of the class Dr. Ng  gave us a question to be updated in our blog

10 things that students do not want the educators to do'.

*As per my understanding, Students mostly want the teacher to teach them on purpose and the important part of the syllabus rather than dragging them a lot.. Students mostly want a friendly kind of situation in the class then only to concentrate on the book itself which is meant to be boring.

* Students do not like to go on a stress kind of education..They do not like handouts and especially with very short deadline. In order to make them feel happy in making them attend the class we should always give them a specific duration of time for them to complete the task.We should always give them enough time to complete the work.

*Students does not want a teacher to be strict in class and giving them quiz or weekly test which actually pressure them as students..Students usually do not like test even examination because they feel it causes them to hate teacher not the school.

*Students also does not like teacher who treat them unfair.. They tend to skip the class because they don't like the teacher's character. For example, when I was in my secondary school I had a teacher who used to give us homework's differently to a particular type of person.

*Student don't like teachers who criticize them and demotivated.. As teacher, I believe that every teacher should motivate the students in whatever aspect rather than demoting them for their hard work.

*Students do not want educators to show anger on them especially without a educational reason and they simply throw unnecessary just because they have a bad mood with their personal problem.

*Students also do not want the teacher to humiliate them.. Therefore, every teacher should always know the limits of getting involve on a students and never to touch their personal problems.

*Students do not want the teacher to be rude...  Teachers should never raise the voice to the students.Teacher should always respect the student in a way as a human and to insult them or give them emotional torture which will effect the students.

*Students do not want a boring class.. Students prefer a fun class with videos and discussion then only reading it in the textbook.What I meant here is that , since we already growing in our technology life every students tends to have more interesting lessons in order to make them feel happy.. Technology should be used to make the class more valuable and interesting.

* Students do not want the teachers to call them using funny nicknames. For example, whatever the friends are calling them.. Teacher should not bully the students and they should try to remember the names of the students and pronounce it well.
